A vast violet mountain ridge dominates the view beneath a muted, clouded sky. Small clusters of autumn-coloured trees and an open plain provide scale to the monumental silhouette. In the contours of the mountains, the artist discerned the likeness of Magtymguly, the great Turkmen poet, whose image seems to emerge naturally from the landscape.
